Getting InTo Motion
COALESCENCE IN MOTION SZN III
Coalescence: In Motion is a training program designed as an extension of the dance community created by Brittany Parker. Built on the core beliefs of the main company, In Motion stands on the cornerstones of authentic community and storytelling through movement. Held-up by the rigor and athleticism of codified movement languages, drawing from the company’s foundations in Jazz and Contemporary-based technical-styles.
In Motion was imagined by Brittany, Krissy, and Cal to reach beyond the main company and continue to build-up the movement language of Coalescence. Cal stepped into the role of artistic director during the program's inaugural season, supported by Krissy and Brittany as they navigated and fine-tuned the voice of In Motion. Having moved through two very successful seasons, In Motion continues to take shape as an incubator for dancers from all backgrounds.
Program Details
So, what is In Motion, exactly? It is a training program for artists to gain confidence in their practice through development in jazz and contemporary technique. This is done through week-after-week progression of skills and conditioning. A core belief of In Motion is that true artistic excellence is reached when the dancer’s story is actualized alongside their physical capabilities. Class discussions are facilitated during each session and dancers are encouraged to get curious about what they are learning and how they are contextualizing that within their unique journey. A particularly unique aspect of the In Motion program is the friendships that are developed in the classroom. Space is held for the group to feel comfortable being vulnerable about what they are experiencing physically and emotionally as we navigate through the season together. After all, there are no friends like dance friends.
Heading into 2025, In Motion will continue to grow and move as new groups of artists flow through every season. With each new iteration, the message will remain the same: dance is at its best when practiced in loving community. It is with humility and gratitude that Coalescence continues to foster that.
